Surface characteristics of sol-gel treated single jersey plated socks

This study examines properties of the cotton/polyamide plain plated commercial socks (CO 81%/PA 19%) and pure polyamide fabric subjected to multifunctional treatment by a sol-gel coating technique where tetraethyl-orthosilicate (TEOS) zinc acetate dihydrate (ZAD) were used as precursors. Commercially available sock is produced on single cylinder knitting machine which results in two surfaces (cotton polyamide), with dissimilar characteristics thus leading necessity their separate studies. Experimental part surface structural clarification compound identification using infrared spectroscopy. To assess impact modification such air permeability must be tested analysed. Pilot tests antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis mscL 1141 Staphylococcus aureus 334 carried out. Due consolidation temperature below destruction material chemical compounds vibrational modes overlap, but regions 1170–1650 cm −1 3200–3395 show presence bounds corresponding surface.
